The little bunny still lives...

Sat Dec 20, 2008, 11:41 PM
Hello good people of DA... its been awhile, neh? I'm still alive and stuff... just haven't been drawing much.

Well, I've been drawing at work quite a bit actually... my boss has had me do some renderings of past design projects that never got built. Its a lot of fun and I'm pretty proud of the work :)... I want to post them here... but I don't know if I can get permission. And I don't really want to ask for permission least he wants to see the site where I'd be posting it... I'd feel a bit embarrassed to show this site to a boss. ( I mean, its kinda a lot of pictures of cute girls... it feels all a bit awkward huh?)

On the not so happy side though, the reason I have been drawing pretty pictures more than designing new projects at work... is largely because there isn't a lot of design work with this whole financial crisis. So this makes me really worried about job stability... :( The fear of getting laid off weighs heavily on me and makes it really hard to ever feel comfortable or secure. Ugh.

I guess these are just the times we live in eh? I fear for the future... but at least the present is good, I must focus on that!! No point dwelling on things I can't control after all...

Well, be healthy, be successful, and be happy everyone!! The Usagisama commands it :P

Try not to worry about the financial crisis too much. I suppose be thankful you're not in banking!

Anyway, hope you have a wonderful Christmas and New Year!

Heh, yeah... the whole financial crisis thing is worrying. I mean, lets face it: a lot of the design industry really depends on the rest of the world having disposeable cash to spend on extraneous crap. Or if not extraneous crap at least something that most people seem to believe is simple "dressing" rather than a way of making something work better for them.

I feel you on not showing this site to employers, I tend to send out a targeted folio to people I'm looking at working with rather than showing the site... unless the arrangement is really casual. Quite aside from which, most of what's commercially useful doesn't really wind up on this site anyway. Still mate, I'd love to see some of the stuff you've been working on.

Anyway, Merry Christmas and a happy new year... I shall be healthy and make an attempt on succsessful... or at least chilled enough not to care if I'm not =P :ahoy:

Y'know everyone says the artists are the first to go in a financial crisis but in history class when we were studying the depression....the gov't was hel;l bent to keep art up cause it boosted morale, things like the entertainment industry flourished and artists made their statement proudly about their times....so, I think that we shouldn't let the recession get us down and keep doing what you love, heh I've already been laid off from work (thankfully I'm still in school and live with my parents) so I guess what I'm saying is, don't worry, when you hit the bottom the only place you can go is up! I have faith things will get better!

Your wishes for good health are a little late for me, I've been sick for days now......I'd be in trouble at school for multiple absences if it weren't for all the snow days
Good luck at work Usa-chan!!

I hear you man. I highly despise retail and would much rather work for myself but I've only had one client [what luck do I have starting out freelancing with a bad client], so this economy is certainly hurting a bit. It can't possibly get worse though, so take solace in that. :P

Ah, that is true, being in banking would be worse! However though, I am in the 2nd hardest hit industry in the states at least... the housing sector. :XD: (My firm primarily does single family residence design) :faint:
