I really have bikes on the brain Its funny too, because when I can't actually ride my bike I find myself doing one of two things, shopping for bike components and bike gear, or drawing bikes I recently had my wisdom teeth pulled so I've been on the mend on pain killers and such, so I've been unable to ride. So this image is what resulted from that down time. Also my GF has been busy too so that has also given me extra time to pour into such images.
So the bike shown is supposed to be based off a classic lugged Masi Gran Criterium. I actually have a Masi Gran Crit myself that is my weekend bike (The Nishiki in my other recent bike image is my weekday commuter). Mine is modern one though (and its black and yellow not red), the one in the image is an old one with down tube style shifters and classic logos. I did however draw it with some modern wheels (like the ones I really really want for my Masi haha).
The background is also vaguely based off the Belvedere island loop road I enjoy riding along. Its actually on this road where I had my nasty crash that left my face good'n scared Its a lovely ride though, and despite my crash I still ride there because of the beautiful bay views one gets.
Thank you! Now, as I recall your bike is a spiffy single speed right? So maybe its time for a second bike with gears eh? Perhaps a kick-ass classic road bike with down-tube shifters is in order? Just-saying (I am a pushy bike advocate these days hahaha)
Thank you!! Its a really beautiful place to ride, my drawing doesn't even begin to do it justice. Case and point: usually the water is dotted with sail boats and on the other side of the bay is San Francisco sparkling in the sunlight (If I was less lazy I could have done it better justice haha)
Great image mate... you still draw some of the cutest girls going. Love it.
Also, down-tube shifters are where it's at.
Classic road bike with down-tube shifters? Why, whenever did you learn to read my mind from such a distance
